Orgogliosa di ciò che può fare quando si trasforma sotto la luna piena, Ivy non si preoccupa molto delle conseguenze delle sue azioni violenti, anzi lasciare in giro cadaveri a pezzi non la imbarazza affatto, è un metodo per far capire cosa può succedere se si fa troppo i cattivi. Ma qualcosa d'altro è arrivato in città oltre a Ivy, qualcosa di violento e con un appetito insaziabile, che osa prendere di mira coloro che stanno cari a Ivy. Mentre lei viene cacciata e da la caccia, lo sceriffo cerca di indagare su tutti questi crimini efferati.
Ivy Cole and the Moon, è un sapiente mix di horror, giallo e romanzo. L'autrice intreccia la mitologia riguardante i lupi e i licantropi, con nozioni scientifiche attuali. Dimenticate lo stereotipo del licantropo Hollywoodiano, Farago reinventa la figura del licantropo in questo innovativo libro.
E il lupo torna ad ululare ancora una volta sui monti Appalachi.

Il libro è ambientato in una realtà simile alla nostra tranne che per un piccolo particolare: il 99% della popolazione mondiale è formato da licantropi. Quando la luna piena splende essi si trsformano in mostri sanguinari, che non possono essere domati o calmati, poichè non possiedono più una ragione. I pochi individui che non possono trasformarsi in lupi sono chiamati Schiene nude, e sono vittime di abusi e pregiudizi. Molto spesso muoiono per mano dei licantropi cche infrangono la legge non rinchiudendpsi in casa durante la luna piena. La venyenna Schena nuda Lola Galley, è una veterana del Dipartimento per la regolamentazione delle attività licantropiche. Quando un suo amico perde una mano perchè viene attaccato da un licantropico e viene poi ucciso per impedire che si presenti al processo, Lola cerca di fare giustiza. Ma la verità non è quasi mai semplice e chiara e Lola scoprirà che forse non le piaceranno le risposte che troverà.
